To benefit from the governement backed feed in tariff scheme the company you choise to walk you though the steps must be a fully accredited member of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). No longer are the government issuing capital grants to homeowners for domestic solar pv systems.
However, these programs have since been replaced with a “government incentives” that pay the homeowner for every unit generated through your solar pv system.
Depending on when your system is installed depending on the “tariff” you are fixed at. However this “feed in tariff” is guaranteed to be fixed at that rate and also indexed linked, for a period of 25 year.

For example, a solar pv system that is installed before December 2011, is below 4KW capability and is retro-fitted onto a domestic property will give a “feed-in tariff” (FIT) rate of 43.3p. When you compared these figures to the current average rates the general public pay for electricity of 14p, the significant “FIT” benefits become clear. As well being paid via the FIT scheme for every unit generated, you are also not having to draw electricity from the grid creating an even larger saving. Finally if you are generating more units that you are actually using then it is exported back to the grid as an “export fee” and then you further qualify for an export payment of 3p per unit.
